The Midwife Book 1 - Cigueña is the first of a Magical Realism (fantasy/supernatural) series that takes you into the lives of the González family, their eccentric lifelong neighbor/midwife, old Doña Victoria, and the opinionated community, who collectively influence the imagination through peculiar events, bizarre superstitions, weird rumors, and far-fetched suspicions connected to creepy Doña Victoria.

The birth of a child takes the midwife into a mysterious tailspin and causes havoc throughout the valley. Her behavior causes the family and community to question her sanity and accusations of witchcraft become the premise of suspicion and fear. The old woman's own actions don't help her and only serve to add to unsavory opinion of her.

VG González based the story series on real events and tales from her childhood and imagination. She leaves it up to the reader to decide where reality ends and fiction begins.
