The Spirit Basket is a novel that portrays historical events experienced by an Alaska Native family for 270 years. In various locations in Alaska, generations of teenagers adjust from subsistence living to invasion by fur traders, the purchase of Alaska from Russia, gold-rush fever, WWII detention, huge earthquake, disastrous oil spill, and much more. Beginning in 1745, each chapter tells of culture change and adventure by a new generation of the same family. The story ends in the year 2015.
