Syed Sibt-e-Hasan was an eminent Urdu scholar, journalist and political activist. He is regarded as one of the pioneers of Socialism and Marxism in Pakistan, as well as the moving spirit behind the Progressive Writers Association. He started his career in journalism and was associated with magazines and newspapers like Payam, Naya Adab and National Herald. He spent most of his time in writing and compiling and presented purely academic and intellectual works. This book presents some of his memorable essays.

سید سبط حسن کا تعلق اعظم گڑھ سے تھا اور وہ مسلم یونیورسٹی علی گڑھ کے فارغ التحصیل تھے جہاں ان کے ساتھیوں میں علی سردار جعفری، اسرار الحق مجاز، خواجہ احمد عباس، اختر الایمان اور اختر حسین رائے پوری جیسے نامور افراد شامل تھے۔ کم و بیش اسی زمانے میں ان افراد نے سید سجاد ظہیر کی قیادت میں اردو کی ترقی پسند تحریک کا آغاز کیا جو دیکھتے ہی دیکھتے اردو کی سب سے مقبول اور ہمہ گیر تحریک بن گئی۔ سید سبط حسن نے اپنی عملی زندگی کا آغاز صحافت سے کیا اور وہ پیام، نیاادب اور نیشنل ہیرالڈ جیسے رسالوں اور اخبار سے وابستہ رہے۔ سید سبط حسن نے اپنا زیادہ تر وقت تصنیف و تالیف میں بسر کیا اور خالص علمی اور فکری تصانیف پیش کیں۔
